Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Fort Worth, TX

Dr. McIntosh Is Here to Answer Your Questions

Many dentists make it difficult to ask questions. Oftentimes, patients come in complaining that they could never talk because of how little time they spent with their previous dentist. At Distinguished Dental, that is not the case. Dr. McIntosh and our team are here to listen and provide clear, honest answers to all of your questions. But before you arrive with your list of inquiries, we invite you to review the following FAQs we’ve compiled from previous patients. If you don’t see yours listed, make sure to give us a call.

Do you offer braces for adults?

Yes, we do. We offer SureSmile and Invisalign. They are more discreet than traditional braces. Invisalign and SureSmile use a series of clear trays that can be taken out for meals and brushing and flossing. Dr. McIntosh would be happy to talk to you about your options.

How often should I see Dr. McIntosh?

For optimal oral health, we recommend seeing Dr. Sheri McIntosh at least twice a year for checkups and cleanings. With frequent visits, we can provide more conservative care that helps you nourish and preserve your natural smile throughout the years.

Is cosmetic dentistry right for me?

Do you have teeth that are stained, chipped, cracked, worn, misaligned, or oddly spaced? Then a cosmetic service like veneers, teeth whitening, Six Month Smiles, SureSmile, or Invisalign might be right for you. During a consultation, Dr. McIntosh will complete a thorough oral exam and talk to you about your goals for your smile. Following this conversation, we will identify which services are best suited for you and help create a personalized treatment plan.

How can I close a space between my teeth?

If you're looking to close a gap between your teeth, we have a few options available. Clear aligners can be used to close a space between teeth and can also be used to correct a patient's bite if necessary. We can also use bonding which is a filling material that is applied to the tooth and shaped to fill the space in a way that is natural-looking and comfortable. We can also discuss veneers, as they can be used on one or multiple teeth to help cover any space between teeth.

Do you accept financing?

Yes, we’re perfectly happy to work with both CareCredit and Springstone. Both services offer affordable payment plans so that patients can get the important care they need. Visit the CareCredit and Springstone websites to learn more about them.

Do you accept dental insurance?

Distinguished Dental is in-network with a variety of dental insurance providers. During your appointment, we’ll do our best to provide you with an accurate quote for treatment, but the actual cost will depend on the specifics of your plan. If you have questions about insurance and how it works, our team would be happy to answer them for you.

What should I do in a dental emergency?

If you’re in the middle of a dental emergency, call us right away. Some of the most common emergencies include a broken or knocked-out tooth, cracked or fractured crown, and severe toothache. In certain cases, you may need to visit your local emergency room instead of our office, but in every case, we will do what we can to see you as soon as possible.
