cosmetic dentistTake a close look at your smile in the mirror—go ahead, we’ll wait. Are you satisfied with what you see? If not, then there is probably a cosmetic dentistry procedure that can correct that imperfection. Whether your smile’s flaw is small—a chipped tooth that only you seem to notice—or something more considerable, such as a broken tooth or crooked teeth, Keller cosmetic dentist Dr. McIntosh and her staff at Distinguished Dental have the treatment to enhance your look. Let’s consider some of the cosmetic dentistry services we offer.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Some may think a filling is just a restorative procedure for a tooth with decay. However, now that fillings can match the color of your tooth, they are equally cosmetic. There once was a time when the only option for repairing a cavity was a silver, amalgam filling. Now, Dr. McIntosh uses composite resin material to repair a decaying tooth. This material can be blended to accurately match the color of your tooth, so no one will know you have a filling.

Cosmetic Bonding

Dr. McIntosh can use that same composite resin material to rebuild and reshape teeth for cosmetic purposes, too. Let’s say you have a tooth that is chipped or slightly broken. Your 76244 cosmetic dentist applies this material to your tooth and molds it to achieve an attractive finish. Then, a curing light hardens the composite resin and you have an attractive and functional tooth again.

Porcelain Veneers

If your smile is marred by several imperfections—chips and breaks, crooked or irregularly spaced teeth, or severe staining like that from childhood antibiotic use, then consider porcelain veneers. Dentists sometimes call these instant orthodontics, because they can achieve the same goal in far less time. Veneers are micro-thin layers of dental porcelain that Dr. McIntosh custom designs for each one of the teeth in your smile zone. Then, they are adhesively bonded to your teeth to cover up your flawed smile and to reveal a brand new, perfect smile.

Adult Orthodontics from Your Cosmetic Dentist

With either Invisalign® or Six Month Smiles®, Dr. McIntosh gives adult patients straight smiles without the appearance of bulky metal braces. Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment system that uses clear plastic aligners to adjust your smile. These clear plastic braces are removable, so you can eat what you like and brush and floss as usual.

Six Month Smiles uses the same mechanics as traditional braces, but the brackets that Dr. McIntosh bonds to your teeth and the wires that move your teeth are clear. Treatment focuses only on the appearance of your teeth and not your bite, so approximately six months is all the time that’s needed.
